Our Story
Aachen Home Care Liberia was founded through a shared vision between Lois A. Harris, Founder and Executive Director of Aachen Home Care USA, and Rev. Dr. Samuel B. Reeves, Jr., President of Aachen Home Care Liberia and Senior Pastor of Providence Baptist Church in Monrovia, Liberia.
After years of providing quality home and community-based services in the United States, Lois recognized the growing need for compassionate home care services in Liberia. Through conversations with Dr. Reeves, both leaders envisioned an organization that would bridge healthcare gaps, support families, and provide vulnerable individuals with the care and dignity they deserve.
Together, they established Aachen Home Care Liberia to bring hope, healing, and high-quality community-based healthcare to the people of Liberia.
The Meaning Behind Our Name
The name Aachen Home Care Liberia was inspired by the historic city of Aachen, Germany—a city internationally recognized for healing, wellness, humanitarian history, and compassionate care. One of Germany’s oldest and most significant cities, Aachen was renowned for its natural thermal healing springs and its longstanding connection to restoration, health, and community well-being.
Throughout history, Aachen became known as a center of leadership, learning, and service during the reign of Emperor Charlemagne, reflecting values of compassion, dignity, and care for others. These same values inspire our mission today. By choosing the name Aachen, we honor a legacy of healing while embracing our commitment to bringing hope, comfort, and quality care to individuals and families across Liberia.
